By eating the right foods and avoiding the bad one’s, you can help avoid future breakouts. Specifically, avoiding processed food, red meat and dairy are the kinds of food you want to avoid. The simple truth is that you if have acne, you have food allergies of some sort. People who have acne tend to be allergic to things such as dairy or white breads/pasta and acne is just the body’s way of trying to let you know that there’s a problem.

The best tip for eating properly is to shop around the outside of the supermarket while avoiding the inner isles. This is because the fresh and unprocessed foods are located on the outside of most supermarkets. By avoiding processed foods, you’re avoiding starches, sugars, and other junk that could cause future breakouts. Natural, healthy food helps keep acne in check.

Now don’t get me wrong, you don’t have to give up your favorite foods forever to be acne free. For example, I love a good BBQ so it’s hard for me to avoid eating red meat during the summer cook out season. I also love milk, just milk in general. Plain milk, chocolate milk, milkshakes, etc. If you are in a similar situation as me, try to find good substitutes. Eat wheat bread or wheat pasta instead of white bread or pasta. Not exactly the healthiest or best example, I know, but you get the idea. Learning to eat properly was a major contributor of clearing my skin.

Another great way to help clear your skin is to exercise. Exercise has the effect of clearing your skin because the increased blood flow will deliver more oxygen. In addition to increased oxygen delivery, the increased blood flow will also clear away more toxins which in turn will prevent future breakouts. Moderate exercise just 3 times a week will do wonders to clear your skin.

Tied into exercise is water consumption. You should be well hydrated when you exercise for one, but by staying well hydrated, you’ll also help with your skin’s health. The old 6-8 glasses of water is only a starting point, the bare minimum. The fact is you should be drinking much more than that. Water consumption will help you clear your skin by keeping it hydrated and also helps by clearing away excess toxins. Combine that with the extra blood flow from your exercising and you have a strong 1-2 combo against acne

In addition to eating right and exercising, you also need some products to help keep your skin healthy and clear. Picking at them will only harm them more and turn them into permanent scars. Instead find a cream that will dry them out and apply that regularly. It will keep you skin from unnecessary scars and pock marks.

Are you like me and have acne prone skin? Do you usually keep an eye out for the next product to clear your skin? Stop your search and try using baking soda for your acne instead.

Why? Because its cheap for one. You buy a box of baking soda for less than a dollar at CVS or Walmart. Secondly, it works and it works well. I dont know the exact science behind it, but I do know results when I see them.

You might be wondering if all you really need is baking soda. To be truthful, you need two ingredients to make it work. Don’t fret or anything, the second ingredient is simple tap water. Now some people think you also need to apply Apple Cider Vinegar to your face as a toner as well, but more about that later.

Just mix the baking soda and water together to form a paste. Try to keep the consistency somewhere in between runny and clumpy. You want it to stick to your skin but you also want to be able to spread it easily. Keeping the right consistency will exfoliate the skin better. There’s no perfect consistency, just try to stay somewhere between the two extremes.

Gently apply the paste to your face. Personally I apply it using small circles as they help me maintain a very gentle touch throughout the process. It may sting the first few times you use this on your face. This goes away as your skin get’s used to it. If instead you find your face burning, make sure you’re didn’t use baking powder instead of baking soda. They are two entirely different products. Anyways after letting it do it’s magic, you’ll want to rinse your face off pretty thoroughly.

As I mentioned previously, you might want to use Apple Cider Vinegar as a toner. This is because your skin has a natural pH balance that is unbalanced when using a strong base such as baking soda. All you would need to do is make a mix of about 70% water and 30% ACV and splash that on your face after you’ve rinsed the baking soda off.

This mask tends to dry at your face, more so at the beginning and then it tapers off after using it for a while. So like I always say, moisturize. Even if you tend to have oily skin, you’ll want to lightly moisturize just in case. Also, if this is agreeable with your skin, try not to overdo it in the first month. Keep it to a maximum of 3 times a week until you notice your skin has adapted to it. Don’t worry if you do go overboard, your skin will just be a little more dry than normal.

The best part about using baking soda for acne? You wont feel it in your wallet if it doesn’t work that well for you. As I mentioned, you can buy the baking soda for less than a dollar. If you splurge and buy some apple cider vinegar as a toner, you’ll spend at most $10 but usually not more than $6.
