There are different types of rosacea. There’s the so-called red face rosacea, rhinophyma, acne, and ocular rosacea which affects the eyes. Rosacea can affect people of all ages but there’s a higher risk for people aging from 30 to 60 years old.
In fact, there are about 45 million people all over the world who are affected by rosacea. 14 million of those people are from the United states. Although a lot have already been affected, only a few are aware of their condition.
Here are the types of rosacea that have been noted up to this date:
- Red face rosacea is the type wherein the face blushes like it’s irritated. It affects the nose and central part of the face. Small visible blood vessels on the face can be seen sometimes.
- Rhinophyma rosacea affects the nose and face areas. The patient’s skin is thickened and the oil glands are enlarged.
- Acne type rosacea is distinguished by the bumps and lesions on the face. Sometimes they are pus-filled pimple-like bumps. It’s also known as papulopustular rosacea. It may be accompanied by a red or blushing face but sometimes it may not.
- The ocular rosacea patients have red eyes and lids. Those affected by this type may feel a burning or gritty sensation.
Rosacea is not a fatal condition but people affected by it can be psychologically and socially distressed. Most people would lose their self-esteem. Those affected would usually use cleansing products to cure rosacea but overuse of those products can only worsen their situation.
Instead of getting rid of rosacea, overuse of the products just causes new breakouts. Because of this, affected individuals would like to be isolated from the public. They may even cancel their work appointments causing problems on their job performance. It would be better if it’s treated right away to avoid these things from happening.
What causes rosacea? According to some studies, rosacea is hereditary as it occurs mostly among certain European ancestries although other ancestries have had few cases noted. Women are said to be more prone to rosacea but men are known to have shown more obvious symptoms of it.
Rosacea can be triggered by activities that cause the face to blush, exposure to extreme temperatures such as sunlight, strenuous exercises, sauna or hot baths, anxiety and stress. It can also be triggered if you are fond of eating spicy foods. Alcohol and other drinks with caffeine can also trigger rosacea.
How to cure rosacea? Cure for rosacea varies from patient to patient as certain methods may not work on every patient. What is being cured most of the time are the symptoms like the redness and the acne-like bumps on the face. Consult your dermatologist for the proper prescription on the treatment of rosacea.
There are several methods that can be done to cure rosacea. They can be oral antibiotics like tetracycline or topical solutions like metronidazole while others would recommend the use of sulfur soap. These methods are usually the first line of defense against rosacea. There is also the ingredient called “Helix Aspersa Muller Glycoconjugates” which is a natural and fluid skin treatment ingredient produced by the brown garden snail. It is said to have the ability to remove the papules and repair the skin as well.
One of the best treatments available is the laser treatment but it can be costly. In order to cure rosacea, the lasers damage the capillary of the skin which will trigger the natural defense mechanism and healing process of the body.
Rosacea is not something that gets worse right away. You will experience symptoms before a breakout. Knowing the symptoms is a great way to battle it. Remember that prevention is better than cure so avoid activities that can trigger rosacea breakouts. Further, before using cleansing products to clean your face when you have already been affected, consult your dermatologist first on how to get rid of rosacea.
