Acne Product Review - Exposed Skin Care vs. Proactiv Solution
Good acne products are hard to come by, especially ones that actually do what they say they will do. In this review we will focus on two popular acne treatment systems - Exposed acne treatment and Proactiv Solution. Both of these products claim to get rid of acne and leave your skin beautiful, are there any differences between them?
First we can compare these products by value. Proactiv and Exposed are pretty comprable in price actually. Proactiv’s best value solution which is a 5 piece kit comes to $59.95. Exposed skin care’s expanded starter kit includes 6 items and sells for the same price. It would appear on the surface that Exposed’s gives you slightly more for the money.
In order to determine the worth of these products we need to know if the treatment is unique or can we find something similar in drug stores for far less money. Both products use a proprietary formula that stops existing acne and prevents future acne to improve your complexion. The primary use of the system is to clean your face, use a toner and then apply a moisturizer that is oil free. Both offer a few additional products that will help treat existing acne, but that is the main treatment routine that is suggested.
Next we look at the type of ingredients to really see if there is a difference between the two products. This is where Proactiv and Exposed Acne start to part ways. Proactiv contains typical ingredients that could be found in common over the counter products. Benzoyl peroxide is the main active ingredient in Proactiv solution. Is is commonly used in acne products for it’s ability to kill bacteria and effectively treat acne.
If you are someone that has sensitive skin Proactiv may not be the choice for you as it might worsen acne instead of making it better. Exposed does contain a type of benzoyl peroxide in the a.m. serum that is formulated to penetrate deep in the skin and not dry it out. Exposed acne treatment is designed to allow the skin to return to it’s natural pH level. In doing so, you not only get rid of acne, but your skin is much more healthy.
Proactiv Solution may work better on oily skin since benzoyl peroxide will help control oil, however, Proactiv doesn’t address hormonal factors that can cause acne. It is known that one of the primary causes of acne is due to an imbalance of hormones. As a result, more and more companies are offering supplements that help combat acne from the inside. This is a more complete type of treatment system which both Exposed and Proactiv fail to provide in their starter kit. Proactiv’s line of products only includes skin care products. Exposed skin care, however, does have a probiotic supplement that can be bought separately for an additional cost.
Lastly, when you want to make sure that a product is guaranteed to work and if it doesn’t work on your skin type you can get your money back. Proactive offers a 60 day guarantee. This is good, but a lot of time it takes about that long to see results. Exposed acne care offers a one year guarantee. That is plenty of time to see if the product is working for you. Not only that, Exposed also offers a $25.00 credit on future purchases of their product if you have tried other products that have failed. You just need to send them the empty bottle of competitors brands and they will credit your next purchase with them.
Overall, while Proactiv has had many endorsements by celebrities and has become widely known it would appear that Exposed’s acne solution offers their customer’s a better value, a better guarantee and ingredients that are beneficial for all skin types. When it comes down to different types of products to treat acne, ultimately the choice is yours.
