Dark Skin Acne Treatment
Lots of folks think that if you are lucky enough to be born in a warm Mediterranean like country, then you are blessed with perfect skin and never have to worry about acne or roscae. This is simply false.
You may not be able to see the redness and skin damage as easily on dark skin people as you would on fairer skin people but that does not mean that its less of a serious condition.
Skin color is irrelevant when it comes to treating acne. Whats most important is that you get the best type of treatment for your type of acne.
White people have to be careful out in the sun as their skin will burn while someone with darker skin doesn’t have to worry about it as much because their skin will not burn.
It is important to always use sun block no matter what color skin you have. Also, certain medications will cause your skin to be more sensitive in the sun and so you should always use at least spf 15, minimally.
There is one type of acne that will affect only those of African heritage, which is known as pomade acne. It is caused by the heavy oil on hair products that are used to straighten their hair. If you can’t avoid using these oily products, keep them away from your face as much as possible.
Dark skin people also may suffer from a temporary skin condition called post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. This is the darkening of the skin caused by a break out of acne. Time will heal this and skin will revert back to its normal color.
The first step in treating your acne no matter what your skin type should be visiting a dermatologist. Getting the right initial advice on diet and potential allergies is vital.
