Rosacea is a skin disorder that effects million of individuals worldwide. It disproportionately effects white women from ages 20 to 50, but can also effect people of all age groups, genders, and races. There is no known cure for rosacea, yet a number of treatments are available. Taking into account the different approaches towards treating rosacea, let’s break them down into three different categories. The first one is not so much a medical treatment as learning to work with rosacea and not against it. This relates to behavior and rosacea triggers. The second approach deals is the straight forward medical approach, and for third and final approach deals with natural treatments, such as herbs and teas. Let’s look at behavior first.

The first approach deals with avoiding behaviors which trigger the onset of rosacea symptoms. This means you have to take the time to note what specifically happens to cause rosacea flareups. This process will involve a lot of trial and error, and might be very frustrating, especially in the beginning. However, taking the time to find out will have an enormous pay-off when you can then avoid exposure to those triggers. Common triggers include exposure to sunlight, drinking hot teas or coffee, hot showers, heated pools, and spicy foods.

The medicinal approach is often the most common one. Dermatology doctors can give you all sorts of medicines to treat rosacea, and recommend high quality over the counter medicine as well. Leveraging the latest medicines to control rosacea is a necessity - however, don’t make the mistake of making this your only approach!

With that in mind, let’s look at one other area regarding treatment: the use of natural treatments. This usually mean herbs and also lotions and creams which contain no active ingredients. Natural treatments are best regarded as a method of relief and not a method of control. Popular treatments include licorice and lavender applied to the irritated skin for instant relief. Try out a variety of natural treatments and see what works for you.

Rosacea doesn’t have to be a problem that takes over your life. While the cure is still missing, a multiple layered approach towards keeping it under control can work wonders for you. Medicine, natural treatments, and behavior modification will go a long way in helping you deal with Rosacea.
